SEIU Healthcare 775NW mourns the passing of Katrinka Gentile, a passionate and dedicated champion for the rights of people with disabilities and a citizen sponsor of Initiative 775.
Katrinka died Tuesday. She lived in Shoreline and was 59. She was an important part of the SEIU 775 family and will be missed.
Katrinka was a leader of Washington State ADAPT and she chaired the committee that wrote the State Plan on Independent Living.
She was known to put in long days lobbying for disability rights.
“I feel like I have a responsibility to my brothers and sisters,” Katrinka told New Mobility magazine. “I live to work … and play. It’s the kind of work I do that makes me want to work.”
Katrinka will be remembered at a memorial service planned for 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the City Church, Alderwood Campus, 21705 58th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
