People gathered in downtown Seattle Monday evening to peacefully protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the wake of two fatal shootings of American citizens by federal agents in Minnesota.
King County Executive Girmay Zahilay appeared as one of the speakers during the protest, among others.
«I wish we were in better times right now,» said Zahilay, speaking about the recent shooting deaths in Minnesota, «It is truly horrific and it is truly maddening. And while these times are dark, and this moment that brings us together is solemn, that does not change the urgency of these times or the actions that are demanded of us.»
Zahilay went on to lead a chant with the crowd to «vote no on funding ICE.»
