Caregivers voted to APPROVE our first-ever Union contract with Consumer Direct Montana that includes wage increases and – for the first time – paid time off and five paid holidays!
In this new contract, Consumer Direct (CDMT) caregivers won:
- Guaranteed wage increases of at least $5 per hour with retroactive pay to October 1, 2023.
- Base wages starting at $16.75 and reaching $19.50 for the most experienced workers by the end of our first contract, based on cumulative hours with CDMT.
- In addition to base wages increasing, all caregivers will receive a wage add-on of $3.19, bringing starting wages to $19.94 at contract ratification.
- An additional $1.25 an hour added to our base wage on October 1, 2024.
- A wage scale with credit for all hours worked with CDMT, going back to 2017.
- Base wages starting at $16.75 and reaching $19.50 for the most experienced workers by the end of our first contract, based on cumulative hours with CDMT.
- Paid time off. In six months, caregivers will start accruing Paid Time Off at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with a cap of 160 hours.
- Five recognized holidays. Caregivers will now be paid 1.5 times your regular rate for working on any of the five recognized holidays.
- A new grievance process to hold the employer accountable if they violate our contract.
- Labor management committee language that allows us to work together with management to explore things like caregiver training, resolving issues at the lowest level possible.
- Right to Union representation in any discipline process, if you request it.

Our new contract is a direct result of our coming together to bargain a contract that works towards making caregiving a good career.
